Cexec Linux
Introduction
cexec is a command line utility for interacting with containers. It provides the means to run commands inside of a container, monitor its status, and get information about the container’s resources. Container technology is growing in popularity, and cexec can be a valuable tool for system administrators and developers who are working with containers. In this blog post, we will explore some of the basics of cexec and how it can be useful in your day-to-day work.
Cexec linux installation
If you have never used linux before, the installation process can be a bit daunting. This guide will walk you through the process of installing cexec on your system.
First, we need to install some required packages. The following packages are needed for cexec: git, make, libcurl4-openssl-dev, libidn11-dev. Once these packages have been installed, we can proceed with the installation.
To install cexec on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin:
- First, update your system and upgrade any packages that are currently installed: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
- Install the dependencies: sudo apt-get install git make libcurl4-openssl-dev libidn11-dev
- Change to the directory in which you want to install cexec: cd ~/Downloads
- Download and install cexec: git clone https://github.com/cexec/cexec cd cexpr
- Build and install cexec: make && sudo make install
- Finally, enable cexec at startup by adding it to your startup applications: echo “export CEXEC=” >> ~/.bashrc && source ~/.bashrc
- You’re done! You can now use cexec to execute commands on remote systems.
When attempting to start a user process on an ESXi host, you may receive an exec format error. This can be caused by the host’s /etc/init.d or /usr/sbin/init scripts not including the appropriate privileges for the user trying to start the process. To resolve this issue, you can either add the appropriate privileges to the init script or change its configuration file location. To add privileges to an init script:
- Open the init script in a text editor: sudo nano /etc/init.d/user
- At the top of the file, add the following line: #!/bin/sh
- Change the owner of the file to the user who will be running the process: chown root:root /etc/init.d/user
- Add the appropriate privileges for the user trying to start the process: chmod 775 /etc/init.d/user
- Save and close the file.
To change an init script’s configuration file location:
- Open the init script in a text editor: sudo nano /usr/sbin/init
- Near the bottom of the file, add the following line: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib Note that this line should be placed just before the last line in the file.
- Change the owner of the file to your user account: chown your-username /usr/sbin/init
- Add the appropriate privileges for the user trying to start the process: chmod 755 /usr/bin/init
- Save and close the file. Get More Category Post Visit.
